My significant other didn't buy me a b-day gift, how do I address this without sounding materialistic?

Ok, so I have been dating this guy for the past few months and he knew my birthday was coming up but he did nothing for me. I had a birthday dinner with friends and he made it super late. He later told me he was looking for flowers but the shops were all closed. It's now 4 days after my birthday and I still have friends wanting to celebrate my b-day however he doesn't say anything about my b-day. He has money. That's not an issue. Is this a hint for something?

The best way to help is to hint about your present in joking way. For example;

"You must really got a big birthd gift for me, huh?" or

"Ok hun, where did you hide my birthd present?

Makes some jokes about it and see what happens. Good luck.

God Bless
Reply:maybe he never experienced celebrating birthdays in his family - maybe he doesnt know what to do - or - maybe he is not that serious about you.
Reply:Maybe he doesn't care or he doesn't seem to understand the point of giving presents. I hope it's the second possibility
Reply:Just confront him about it and tell him that the fact that he seems to care so little about you upsets you and you want to know if there is a reason behind it. Maybe he is just getting ready to surprise you, maybe not, just ask him and see what he has to say about it all.
Reply:Some men are not like women...Men don't see Birthdays the way women do.. Nothing to worry about. My fiance forgot it was my birthday and it hurt me...I think that your b/f thinks that since it's not your birthday anymore why bother get you anything it has passed.. He gave the effort in trying to get you flowers annd that's a big thing. It was the thought that count, wether or not you were still empty handed.
Reply:yes. he is skum. he did get you a card or something, 20$. at the lest even if you are a new couple.

wow!!! i never
Reply:be sneaky, ask them when their b-day is and what they might want for a gift, then they will get guilty

guilt will pester one to no end and they will fess up soon, don't worry
