My moms birthday is the 26th of may, she's turning 32. She likes the kind of stuff you make for her. She's weird that way 'from the heart' kind of deal. I have some good ideas: fake flowers (she hates when flowers die), and this thing i found out how to make to hold the flowers, the cake of course, a picture of mine and my brothers hand and footprints framed with a frame i'm going to make, and instead of a gift bag to put it in i am going to make a fabric birthday bag in my fashions class. See what I mean, i'm making everything, but she likes that stuff so, she'll be happy. But I need something big. Something that she'll like alot, but something i make. I don't mind going to buy the things for it, but i can't stress how major i want this present lol. Any suggestions?
And one last question: If you have a good decorative icing recipe.... mind sharing it? lol. Thanks for any input. I really appreciate it. :) She's gonna love it i'm so flippin excited!!!
A question for moms?
Wow you are artistic. And imaginative. My suggestion would for you to make Mom an "altered book". Check out this website for step by step instructions with photos, completed with limited supplies you probably already have. (creativity-portal.com) then look under (altered book tutorial). This would be an easy project for you and an absolutely wonderful treasured gift for your Mom. You could add pictures, magazine photo collages, and on the one side - a handwritten poem you have written, about your Mother. Also for Mom, a picture of her on one side and a picture of her Mom on the other - or Her on one page and a collage of pic's of you kids. The possibilities are endless - And the design is up to you - look around the web site for ideas. I really think it would be a treasured keepsake. Hope you will at least consider to add this project to your list of creative accomplishments - At least on your "to do list"
Reply:Why don't you and your brother make a book. Draw some pictures, paint watercolors, write poems or short stories, etc.
You could also make a family newspaper, with columns like in a real one. Have the title be some breaking news about mom's birthday. Have a gossip column in it and ask people who know your mom questions, and have the answers there...
Another easy thing, if your mom likes to read, you could make her a really cool book mark...she'll think of you every time she uses it. :)
Reply:the scrapbook idea is a good one. also what about some sort of jewellery (necklace and earrings)
Reply:How about a scrapbook? You could have pictures of you and your siblings and your mother. Don't forget to add journaling in your own words. Use ticket stubs, or brochures from an event that holds a special memory. Things that show how special your mom is to you. Journal about something your mom has done for you that you treasure deeply and add a photo to go along with the story. I hope this helps, but I am very sure that she is going to love all the things you already have planned to give her, without the need for something "big". The best gift a mom can get on Mother's Day or her Birthday is to be with her children and know that she is loved and cherished by them.
