How do you approach a group/table and who do you say hi to first?

for example if i'm approaching my parents family at a restaurant for his mother's birthday and i'm carrying some flowers for her . should i go to her and give her the flowers and say happy birthday to her first even if she isn't the closest one and then make my way around? what direction would i go in?

i think if its her birthday go to her first then make yoru way around the table
Reply:Yeah I'd say the hi too.

I'd actually greet whoever was nearest and whoever I came to first. Otherwise it's like a diss to them and they'll wonder what they did wrong.

Then, immediately go to the birthday girl with a warm greeting and a big smile.
Reply:i would say an audible "hi" once, which is meant for everyone and then go to her personally ,hand over the flowers and wish birthday
Reply:Greet the birthday girl first. Cos it's her big day. Then say hello to everyone at the table.
